Our Foundress

Mother Catherine McAuley founded the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic religious order, in Ireland in 1831. Her single House of Mercy is now the worldwide institute of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, which operates six hospitals in Arkansas and a total of more than 200 hospitals within the Americas. Through faith-based care, Sisters of Mercy institutions have established a rich tradition of care giving and community service.
